| Quite a large freshwater lake Loch Ness is 37 miles west of Inverness. It is formed by geological faults : Great Glen, is part of the Caledonian Canal , which connects the eastern and western seaboard of Scotland. Most of the lakes in this part of the country is not of glacial origin , Loch Ness is no exception. The lake water is muddy and has a high content of a specific shade of peat soil in the bottom. Lake in Scotland is the second largest by volume of water and the largest , it is not particularly scenic , but the truth is just so unattractive. Vegetation on the lake is quite meager and monotonous landscape around him striking beauty lines. | In Scotlandabout 800 Islands, one of the most attractive for tourists is the island of
